Wildlife in the Winter: Who stays, who goes, and who sleeps?
Sunday, January 10
Brunch Seatings: 11:15 am and 1 pm
Program: 12:15 pm – 1 pm
Winters may seem quiet at the Institute, but the landscape is still full of life! Join us for a cozy winter brunch paired with an exploration of how Michigan wildlife adapts, survives, and thrives during the coldest months of the year. Please make reservations early; seating is limited.
Then bundle up for a short, guided snowshoe hike along the trails as we look for tracks, signs, and other clues that reveal which animals are active during winter and how they navigate the season. Afterward, warm up by the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa and continue the conversation about the wildlife that calls Pierce home year-round.
Snowshoes will be provided. Winter hike activities will be weather-dependent.
Prefer to stay warm? You can also cozy up by the fire and enjoy fun, family-friendly facts and stories about how wildlife survives the winter. Learn about hibernation, migration, winter adaptations, and the surprising ways animals stay warm and find food when the landscape is covered in snow.
Member Adults: $24 | Non-Member Adults: $30
